At the Textile Conservation Studio we offer opportunities for students and conservation graduates to further their knowledge of the work we do through short term work placements and a two year internship.

Work Experience

Each year we offer students the opportunity to learn more about the work of the Trust, of conservation and more specifically about the care of historic textiles.

These voluntary placements can range from one to eight weeks depending on the students requirements and availability. These placements are available to arts or art history students, aspiring conservators and students of conservation.

Why not fill in our application form on the right? Places are offered according to our availability and demands of the work programme.

The Levy Textile Conservation Internship

This is a post graduate work experience opportunity for newly qualified conservators to turn theory into practice, to gain confidence and new skills and to learn about the work of the Trust. These paid fixed term contracts are for a period of two years followed by an optional year as an assistant conservator and is funded by the National Trusts Levy Bequest.

These placements are available to students of conservation, either from a general conservation course or a specialist textile conservation course, who have completed their studies within a three year period prior to application.

This internship is advertised through the Institute of Conservation (ICON) and the National Trust jobs site. The next internship will be offered in 2014.
