Escape the sales and walk off the turkey with a gentle stroll around Gibside’s winter wonderland, followed by a hot drink in the Potting Shed Café.

For a refreshing start to 2013, visit Gibside on New Year’s Day and enjoy a five mile guided stroll to the furthest reaches of the park, discovering the wildlife and stories that make this place so special.

The cosy cottage - 29-30 December, 11am-3pm
Get out over the Christmas holidays and enjoy the tranquillity of the winter garden with a lakeside walk at Stourhead, before warming up in front of a glowing fire in the festively decorated Gothic Cottage.

New Year's Day walk - 1 January, 11am-1pm
Join Stourhead’s estate ranger and garden and estate manager on a wonderful walk through the garden, woods and parkland and start a great way to the New Year. Discover how they look after this world-famous estate and finish with warming mulled wine and mince pies.

Stonehenge Landscape, Wiltshire
Neolithic New Year walk, 11 January - 11am-3pm
Welcome in 2013 by discovering the astonishing Stone Age on a walk around the ancient monuments of the Stonehenge landscape. Following the route of around six miles will take you to Neolithic enigmas including Durrington Walls and the Stonehenge Cursus.
