Ashridge is a working estate and we often have to fell trees to help maintain the health of the woodland. The timber is not wasted as we have our own sawmill where we process the wood. Sawn timbers are available for sale as a range of garden items, including planters, raised beds, garden benches and trellis - the latter in various sizes. All proceeds go towards the upkeep of the estate. For more information give our forestry team a call on 01442 841800.
Read any good books lately?
Our second-hand book room has a wide variety of volumes to satisfy all interests and there are comfy chairs for you to use whilst browsing.
We are also happy to accept fiction and non-fiction, so if you have any books you no longer want please pass them on to us. If you have a lot please give us a call on 01442 851227 and we can help you carry them in.
All the money we raise on book sales goes towards looking after the estate.
The Brownlow Café (National Trust approved concession) can be found beside the visitor centre. The café has a wide range of hot and cold drinks and food including homemade cakes, all-day breakfasts and sandwiches. There is also an ever changing specials menu in which local products take centre stage. Your four-legged friend is catered for with dog treats on sale and fresh water available. We do ask that you keep them on a lead in the café area. All seating is outdoors. There are umbrellas but we recommend that you bring a coat or extra layer particularly in winter.
