Do you often find yourself waiting outside with the dog while your partner and kids enjoy the shop or café? Here at Birling Gap our shop and visitor centre welcome dogs on leads along with their owners.

Our café has a dog and dog walker seating area and dog bowls available on request.

Family area

Relax over breakfast, chill over lunch or treat yourself to an ice cream with your kids in our family area with lower seating and a range of toys and books.

We have a range of maps and guides for local walks including Ordinance Survey, walking guides and books about the South Downs Way. We also stock a selection of Regatta clothing and umbrellas for when the weather isn't so warm and sunny.

Every penny you spend in our shop and cafe supports our work caring for the South Down's countryside and coastal areas. Pop in to us at Birling Gap to support our work whether you buy a cake for Crowlink, a drink for Devil's Dyke or a scarf for Saddlescombe. We use your money to ensure our areas of the South Downs are here for you to enjoy forever.

Julie & Michael our chefs make all our scones and cakes in our own kitchen. Our sandwiches and salads are made fresh, on site, everyday.

We serve gluten-free cakes made locally in Glynde, gluten-free bread and rolls are available. Our soups are home-made and gluten-free. We also offer decaffeinated coffee and tea as well as vegetarian options.

Quieter days

Why not pay us a visit on a weekday? © National Trust

We can get very busy on sunny weekends and during school holidays. Visit us on weekday mornings for a more relaxed visit.

Free parking

A car parking sign

Spend over £10 in one transaction our shop or cafe and we will refund your car parking. Just bring the tear off part of your parking ticket in. National Trust members park for free.
