Eating and shopping at Chartwell
Stop by the Landemare Café on your visit to Chartwell for tasty treats, snacks and hot and cold food or something to take away for a picnic in the garden. In the shop you will find seasonal National Trust ranges for the home and garden, plants, local products, books and souvenirs. The café and shop are located at the main entrance as you approach from the car park.
Eating at Chartwell
Landemare Café
The main café is situated in the car park and can be visited without paying for entry to the house and gardens. We serve fresh, seasonal, locally-sourced food as well as a selection of hot and cold drinks and children’s lunch box options. There’s a range of delicious hot lunches or lighter options including sandwiches, salads, soups, cakes and cream teas. Gluten free options are also available.
Allergen information
Most of the food and drink served is prepared on site in our kitchen using a wide range of ingredients. As a result we can’t guarantee that any of our food and drink products are completely allergen free.
If you have an allergy or intolerance and would like ingredient information about the food and drink served, please ask our staff who will be happy to help.

Visited before? We sometimes change our recipes to improve quality and flavour, including ingredients. When you visit, please speak to one of our team to check the current allergen information for your favourite dish.
Opening Hours
Our café is open 10am-5pm in summer and 10am-4pm in winter. The kitchen hours for full food service are 12:00 – 15:00pm between March and October and 12:00 – 14:30 between October and March.
As all our hot food and drinks are made to order there can be queues at peak times. If you want to avoid the queues, we recommend you consider either an earlier or later sitting. Outside these hours you’ll still be able to purchase snacks, sandwiches, pasties and pastries, scones, cakes, and biscuits, plus hot and cold drinks. We don’t take bookings for meals nor can we reserve seating.
Other outlets
Garden Cottage is open during busy periods only. The range on offer here is more limited but if you want to grab a quick takeaway cup of tea or snacks, ready-made sandwiches or ice-cream ( tub or cone ) this can be a good option. You can use any of the tables on the lawn area outside Garden Cottage or wander into the garden to enjoy your refreshments with a view. ( Please note there are no bins in the gardens or wider grounds and we don’t allow consumables inside the mansion ) .

Maintaining the views
As Chartwell is known for its views, we do ask that you don't bring your own furniture such as tables and gazebos into the grounds so that everyone can enjoy the open spaces. Instead, please bring a picnic blanket with you.

The shop at Chartwell is one of the largest in the National Trust and is sure to have what you're looking for. Every purchase you make helps us to care for the nature, beauty and history that surrounds us here at Chartwell.

The Chartwell guidebook
Whether you're looking for an accompaniment to your visit or a memento of your trip, everything is covered in the Chartwell guidebook. It includes the history of Winston Churchill and his family, as well as information on what can be found in both the house and surrounding gardens at Chartwell. Guidebooks can be purchased from the shop or Visitor Centre.
