Our Howard de Walden exhibition gives a sense of what high society entertaining would have felt like in the mid 20th-century. Relax in the comfy armchairs by a roaring fire, listen to Holbrooke or Dylan Thomas on the wireless, sign the guest book - after hunting for famous names of early 20th-centry society, play a tune on the piano and look through the family's photo albums.
Watch Lord Howard de Walden's cine film and see the pageants, parties, house guests and artists that brought Chirk Castle to life in the 1920s and 1930s. Then don't miss the lower dining room, containing some of the oldest letters owned by the National Trust, and the library with its wonderful collection of books in their original bindings.
