Great Langdale Campsite

The maximum number of adults in any booking is four and this applies whether you book together or separately, to help preserve the site's tranquillity.

Great Langdale Campsite looks up to the unmistakable outline of the Langdale Pikes, one of the most well-known sets of peaks in the Lake District. The valley is known for climbing and mountain trails, and you can find any level of adventure on a holiday here - from fell-top expeditions and rocky scrambles to shorter family-friendly walks. You can loop onto lots of trails from the campsite, so it's a great place to park up and explore for a few days or a week's holiday at any time of year.

Enjoy views of the Pikes with your feet in the water at the end of an hour-long, circular walk to Blea Tarn. Stickle Tarn is a steeper walk and takes an hour and a half, following the Stickle Ghyll stream all the way and stopping at waterfalls and pools cut into the mountainside. You'll find a tree trail of giant redwoods and firs at High Close. By bike, you can take the moderate Langdale Valley cycle trail, to ride through meadows, woodland and slate quarries, stop at a café in Elterwater village, and then take path along the river before heading back up the valley. Electric bikes are available for hire at Stickle Ghyll Car Park. 

A stay here is all about the outdoors and being unplugged and immersed in nature, and we offer an orienteering course around the site. Check-in is from 12noon, with departures by 11am.
