Membership of the Watford and District Association is open to both members and non-members of the National Trust. Our objectives are to promote actively the work of the National Trust locally, raise funds in its support, and arrange a programme of events and activities to enrich members’ understanding of its work.
We arrange lecture evenings, social activities and also organise regular escorted coach outings to National Trust properties and other places of interest to make involvement with the National Trust more enjoyable and foster an appreciation of the purposes of the National Trust. By creating friendship between members we are jointly increasing the mutual enjoyment of Trust affairs and actively supporting the work of the Trust through voluntary service
What we do
The Watford and District Association offers lecture evenings at 8pm on the first Thursday of every month at the Stanborough Centre, St. Albans Road, Garston, Watford, (a few hundred yards from the Dome Roundabout).
There is ample, well-lit parking at the Centre and a bus stop is right outside the entrance. The hall provides excellent facilities for over one hundred people. There is normally a refreshment break and the meeting finishes about 10pm. We have a sales table where a variety of National Trust goods can be purchased or ordered.
Our volunteer committee also organises regular escorted coach outings to National Trust properties and other places of interest. We have pick up points from both The Essex Arms, Langley Way and the Stanborough Centre.
We also include occasional social activities into our programme and full details can be seen in our newsletter which is produced four times a year.
