Whatever the weather, there's plenty to see and do at Houghton.
Much of the internal Victorian mill machinery remains intact.
Today, we grind grain using a pair of millstones powered by the north waterwheel, which was reinstated in 1999.

There's something for all ages to enjoy inside the mill.
There are curious cogs, wheels and amazing machinery to see and play with.
You can admire spectacular views of the river and surrounding meadows or simply soak up the atmosphere of this wonderful old building.

Escape into the beautiful surroundings of the mill to enjoy a walk or perhaps spot some wildlife. Why not enjoy a picnic or boat ride along the Great Ouse?
The local villages of Houghton, Hemingford Grey and Hemingford Abbots are peaceful and steeped in history.

We have lots of free events throughout the year to suit all ages and tastes, including our regular 'Crafty Tuesdays' in the summer holidays.
Walks
Houghton Mill is an ideal place to start a walk into the delightful countryside of the Ouse Valley Way.
From Houghton Mill, discover the towns of Godmanchester and St Ives, on circular walks of between 5 and 8 miles.
