Victorian country house with richly decorated interiors and garden
With acres of glorious gardens and parkland, surrounding a spectacular Gothic Revival house, Knightshayes is a country estate on a grand scale.
The house is a rare example of the work of William Burges, whose richly decorated interiors have always inspired extremes in opinion.
The garden is one of the finest in Devon and its collection represents one of the most varied in the Trust; with over 1200 plant species unique to Knightshayes and riotous seasonal colour, it’s always worth a visit. Covering an area of just over four acres, the walled kitchen garden is another great highlight, brimming with seasonal produce for the Stables Café.
Don’t miss the sensational summer flowering and wonderful willow sculptures in the woodland and formal garden. You can also join a free guided tour of the walled kitchen garden, running daily at 2pm.

Visitors dancing to live music in the parkland
Join us in the parkland for an amazing celebration of local food and music. You can even take part in a soup making competition, using fresh seasonal produce from the walled kitchen garden.
With live music from local acts and big names (not THE big names unfortunately), this is a celebration of everything great that Devon has to offer and FREE for all the family.
Tribute acts include Frank Sinatra, Michael Bublé, Elvis, Tom Jones and Abba.
