    What's new this year
Visit the new touchscreen exhibition, 'Jackson's Geology', at Ilam Park visitors centre. The exhibition explains the geology of Dovedale and the whole White Peak area through the eyes of Dr Jackson, a pioneer in the study of the area. Stepping Stones
The stepping stones across the River Dove at Dovedale, Derbyshire
The stepping stones are perhaps the most famous feature of Dovedale and attract thousands of visitors every year. They were originally built in the Victorian era to enable tourists to cross the River Dove and continue to serve this purpose today. SK151513

    Milldale
Milldale village is an important industrial archaeological site and for this reason was declared a Conservation Area in 1993. It's a great starting point for the walk down through Dovedale to the stepping stones or north along the quieter stretches of Dovedale. SK138546

    Biggin Dale
A View of the Dovedale area showing the crags of Bunster Hill from near to the summit of Thorpe Cloud
This long, dry valley stretches from Biggin village to the River Dove at Peaseland Rocks. In wet winters a stream appears, running half the length of the dale until it joins the River Dove. We take care of this ecologically-important area by stock grazing, monitoring the growth of wild flowers and controlling encroaching gorse. SK143579
    Wolfscote Hill and Dale
Wolfscote Hill stands high above the River Dove, reaching a height of 388m (1,272 ft) and providing marvellous views from its boulder strewn summit of the upper and lower Dovedale Valley. SK138581
