The stepping stones are perhaps the most famous feature of Dovedale and attract thousands of visitors every year. They were originally built in the Victorian era to enable tourists to cross the River Dove and continue to serve this purpose today. SK151513

Milldale village is an important industrial archaeological site and for this reason was declared a Conservation Area in 1993. It's a great starting point for the walk down through Dovedale to the stepping stones or north along the quieter stretches of Dovedale. SK138546

This long, dry valley stretches from Biggin village to the River Dove at Peaseland Rocks. In wet winters a stream appears, running half the length of the dale until it joins the River Dove. We take care of this ecologically-important area by stock grazing, monitoring the growth of wild flowers and controlling encroaching gorse. SK143579
