New membership queries

When I join, what will I receive and by when?

When you join online you will receive a temporary membership card by email to use until your welcome pack arrives in 3-4 weeks. This pack contains your membership cards (one for each adult; children are admitted on adult cards) and a handbook containing a car parking sticker inside the front cover.

Can I add more than two adults to a membership?

Yes you can, but not on our website. If you wish to set up a membership with more than two adults please contact us.

Where is a gift membership sent?

You can choose to have the membership welcome pack and cards delivered either to you or to the recipient with a letter explaining that the membership is a gift from you.

Can I buy a gift membership today but have it start at a date in the future?

You can choose for your gift membership to start today or any day within the next 3 months. The welcome pack will arrive in the next 3-4 weeks.

When will a gift membership arrive?

The welcome pack will arrive in 3-4 weeks, even if you choose to have the membership start at a future date. When you buy a membership online, if it is due to start within the next 21 days, you will receive a temporary membership card by email which you can pass on to the gift recipient for use until the welcome pack arrives.

Can I pay monthly, but for fewer than 12 months?

No. A National Trust membership is an annual subscription for which you can choose to pay in monthly instalments.

Where can I use my card?

As well as England, Wales and Northern Ireland, you can use your National Trust membership card in 14 other countries, including Scotland.

Please see more information on overseas organisations and Scotland.

For queries about how card scanning works for you, please see our scanning your membership card page.

Where’s my parking sticker and when will I receive a new one?

Your parking sticker is located inside the front cover of the handbook. You will receive a new handbook and parking sticker in January.

Can I pay for my membership renewal by cheque?
