- Parking - car parks on Northey Island (by appointment only, National Trust members free and non-members £2 (included in entry fee); Maldon High Street (pay & display), 70p per hour; Marine Parade Recreation Ground (pay & display), 70p per hour
- Dogs - aren't permitted on the island due to ground nesting birds and overwintering wildfowl
- Toilets - on the side of Northey House in the centre of the island
- Picnic areas - benches and a picnic table are located next to the garden at Northey House
- Pubs - range of pubs in Maldon
- Groups and schools - ideal location for school groups wishing to learn more about wildlife conservation and the island's important medieval history
- Shop - beef from Northey Island cattle is available from our National Trust tenant farmer on 01621 851804.
- Refreshments - fish and chips on the quay or choose from a variety of tea-rooms, cafés and restaurants in Maldon
- Walks - warden-led walks and talks available by appointment. Please contact us for further information
Family & children
- There are no specific baby-changing facilities, but the toilet is large
- Discover more about the wildlife that inhabits the island and see how many different types of birds you can spot from the bird hide
- Canoeing - water all around the island is suitable for canoeing and kayaking
Access
- Mobility parking - small car park on level ground. No designated spaces
- Mobility toilet - at the side of the cottage in the centre of the island
- Pathways - largely uneven surfaces which can be wet
- Seating - limited seating, which can be found mainly on the first half of the guided walk route. The bird hide offers the only shelter on the island
- Designated area for a wheelchair in the hide
