- Bookshop
Second-hand bookshop on the ground floor of the house.
- Car park
Free parking. From the direction of Hovingham the entrance is over the Nunnington village bridge, coming from the direction of Wombleton the entrance is before the bridge. Car park closes at 5.15pm.
- Dogs allowed
Dogs on short leads welcome in the garden, courtyards and wider estate. Assistance dogs only in the house and cafe.
- Electric vehicle charging point
There are four electrical charge points in the main car park.
- Tea-room
Tea-room is open with indoor and outdoor seating.
- Toilet
Toilets are available on the ground floor and first floor. Baby changing available on the first floor.
Limited mobility parking. Access from car park to property via sloped bridge. There is stepped access only to the first and second floor of the Hall. Baby changing available on first floor. Pushchairs are not permitted inside the house, pushchair storage is available in the rear courtyard. Garden fully accessible on gravel, grass and flagstone paths.

Accessible toilet is reached via ramp access in the rear courtyard.
- Changing Places

Highlights
House
Picturesque Yorkshire manor house, nestled on the quiet banks of the River Rye. The house is a fascinating combination of renovation and re-purpose, creating an atmospheric and comfortable home.
Garden
Peaceful hidden spots, colourful peacocks and flowers, run alongside the river Rye. The garden has been managed fully organically since 2002. There are highlights in every season from spring flowering meadows to floral blooms in summer, and fruit harvests in autumn.
Exhibitions
Nunnington hosts a programme of changing exhibitions throughout the year in the gallery spaces in the house. See All the Wood's a Stage by Joe Cornish and Simon Baxter on open days until 29 March 2026.
Tea-room
Make a day of it and refuel in the tea-room, located within the historic house with views across the garden. Or head to the walled tea gardens and relax on the bank of the River Rye while you eat. Treat yourself to a delicious scone, tasty soup or freshly prepared lunch.
Second-hand Bookshop
The second-hand bookshop has something for everyone, including children and adult fiction, and all categories of non-fiction. All sales through the bookshop directly support Nunnington Hall.

The hall at Nunnington
A dwelling is recorded here since 1249, but the current house grew out of a Tudor Hall. Over 450 years the house has been altered to create an atmospheric and comfortable home.
