Notice: We have been carrying out essential repairs to the dam and have had to lower the lake level for this work. The work has been completed successfully we are now allowing the lake to refill. Once the lake level has risen we will tackle the problem of algae on the lake.
Palladian mansion and world-famous landscape garden
When Stourhead first opened in the 1740s, a magazine described it as ‘a living work of art’. The world-famous landscape garden has at its centrepiece a magnificent lake reflecting classical temples, mystical grottoes, and rare and exotic trees, and offers a day of fresh air and discovery.
Uncover the fascinating history of Stourhead house with an Italian ‘Grand Tour’ adventure and enjoy the unique Regency library, Chippendale furniture and inspirational paintings. The Palladian mansion is set amid ‘picnic perfect’ lawns and extensive parkland.
Explore the 1,072 hectare (2,650 acre) Stourhead estate where chalk downs, ancient woods and farmland are managed for wildlife.
London Welsh Male Voice Choir
Saturday 6 September, 7pm.
Famed for its innovative approach, the choir performs a magical blend of traditional and pop songs. They have sung at many concert halls and cathedrals worldwide, and are generously putting on this concert at Salisbury City Hall, to support our appeal to raise £640,000 to restore structures with the Stourhead garden and on the estate.
Bring your dog
After 4pm from 1 March - 31 October dogs are welcome in the landscape garden on short fixed leads. We simply ask that you clear up after your dog and use any of the bins provided.
