See rutting red deer on one of our wildlife walks

Autumn leaves aren’t the only thing brightening up the landscape this season, there’s also lots of wildlife on display. Look out for flashes of colour in the trees on the red squirrel walk at Formby, or see if you can spot rutting deer in the Peak District. If you head for the Northumbrian coast you might catch a glimpse of seal pups on the Farne Islands' wildlife walk.

Find a walk near you

The places we care for are perfect for walking. To help you make the most of them we’ve got hundreds of trails for you to follow. You can choose between our property trails, some generated by walkers and find upcoming events. Take a look at our walking map and find a route near you.

Walks with cosy cafés

Nothing finishes an autumn walk quite like a steaming cup of tea and a big slice of cake. With that in mind we've picked out some great walkers' pit-stops for you to sample. And remember, every penny you spend in our cafés goes back to helping care for special places, so don't feel guilty about having another slice.

Maintaining footpaths in Snowdonia

When it comes to truly great walking destinations, Snowdonia takes some beating. We want as many people as possible to explore the miles of footpaths, so our rangers are busy keeping them in order.

Discover a secret walk

We’ve uncovered some of the UK’s best kept walking secrets. These hidden gems are only accessible by foot and all have something unique for you to discover. Each one has a downloadable route guide full of fun facts for explorers.

Bringing the dog?

We know some great spots for walking, whether you’re on two legs or four. Dogs are welcome at almost all of our places and we have facilities to help you and your friend enjoy your visit.

Two-day hikes

If you fancy an adventure then try one of our longer walks. We’ve got some two-day hikes that will take in some really special places on route. Brush off those walking boots and download our route map.
