Autumn leaves aren’t the only thing brightening up the landscape this season, there’s also lots of wildlife on display. Look out for flashes of colour in the trees on the red squirrel walk at Formby, or see if you can spot rutting deer in the Peak District. If you head for the Northumbrian coast you might catch a glimpse of seal pups on the Farne Islands' wildlife walk.

Walks with cosy cafés

Nothing finishes an autumn walk quite like a steaming cup of tea and a big slice of cake. With that in mind we've picked out some great walkers' pit-stops for you to sample. And remember, every penny you spend in our cafés goes back to helping care for special places, so don't feel guilty about having another slice.

Autumn colour walks

It's been a colourful autumn so far and there's still plenty time to get out and explore. Our outdoor places make a great backdrop for an autumn walk with so many different shades on display. Enjoy a red sunset walk at Wicken Fen or stroll through the canopy of orange oak trees on Snowdon.

Walking the straight and narrow in Snowdonia

When it comes to truly great walking destinations, Snowdonia takes some beating. We want as many people as possible to explore the miles of footpaths, so our rangers are busy keeping them in order.
