Everyone knows about our houses. You can also explore our castles, mills, beaches, wildlife havens or even have a pint in one of our pubs.

A place for everyone

Over our history, and with your help, we've acquired a wide range of fascinating, and often surprising places that you can visit and enjoy. From the humble Alfriston Clergy House (our first house) to the grand houses of Edwardian socialites such as Polesden Lacey, by way of curious caves, countryside, lighthouses, pubs, beaches, abbeys and castles.

Houses & buildings

Experience life below stairs, a mill during the industrial revolution or imagine attending an elegant soiree. We aim to bring our houses and buildings to life, and to ensure your visit is enjoyable as possible.

Google Street View

We've teamed up with Google to take a virtual tour of 36 places we look after on Google Street View, along routes we designed with Google.

Gardens & parks

Take a stroll through a landscaped garden designed by 'Capability' Brown, or enjoy the deer in one of our medieval deer-parks. Our gardens and parks are a riot of colour year round, and a haven for wildlife and nature.

Coast & countryside

Fresh air and a gentle stroll is good for the soul, and when combined with stunning scenery, it becomes great. We care for hundreds of acres of countryside for you to explore by foot, bike, horse or even by kayak.

Collections

Discover the wealth of our collections - from the nation's largest collection of oil paintings, to an ever-changing programmed of exhibitions which showcases the work of international artists from home and abroad.

Sites & monuments

We care for some of Britain's most iconic and historic monuments. Stone circles, Cornish tin mines and even the Cerne Giant are under our care, and accessible for you to visit.
