Friends enjoy the Nuttery

Enjoy a guided walk through the gardens. Discover the dramatic 17th century parterre and
the wilds of the nuttery. Find out more about our heritage and nature conservation work.


The house has been furnished as it might have been in the 17th Century

Find out about the hall's history from the birth of the Washington Family, the 17th Century manor,  through to its more recent tenemented period and savior from demolition.

Village walk

We can also offer a short historic tour of the Washington Village taking in remnants of centuries gone by lasting approximately 40 minutes.


We have small, inviting tearoom staffed by the Friends of Washington Old Hall offering teas coffee as well as home made pies and cakes. Large groups can be catered for in the Old Hall

Simple food options: Tea with cake and biscuits, a light lunch (soup and sandwiches) or a traditional Geordie supper (ham, stottie and peas pudding)
