About Wilderhope Manor
Wilderhope Manor is a grade 1 listed Elizabethan manor house owned by the National Trust but managed by the YHA. Wilderhope's roof has the largest colony of swifts in Shropshire and in June or early July they arrive from Africa to nest in the roof space. On a sunny afternoon you may hear them screeching (their nickname is ‘devil screamers’) as they swoop around the manor house.
