- Denbies Hillside
Tim, Peter and Robin have varied backgrounds from accountancy to engineering and teaching. They’ve really enjoyed doing something totally different and have risen the challenge of learning new skills.
They were trained to use all sorts of tools, including band saws and mortisers. The team are based at Landbarn Farm, Westcott, and meet every Thursday.
What do they get up to?
There’re lots of woodworking tasks to be done on Denbies Hillside and also the wider Surrey Hills Countryside Estate. Our volunteers are asked to make various items from leaflet boxes to bird hides. Probably the most challenging recent projects were the large notice boards at Box Hill and Headley Heath. These both look amazing.
When you’re out and about on the Hillside look out for all our lovely picnic tables and benches, these were also made by Tim, Peter and Robin.
Where does the timber come from?
We use our own oak timber from sustainably managed woodland on nearby Bookham Commons.
