Cellar tours at Hatchlands Park

This section of the page features an image gallery, so if you're using a screen reader you may wish to jump to the main content.

Have you ever wondered what's underneath Hatchlands house? Put on your hard hat, pick up a lantern and come down with us into the cellars. Discover this previously unseen space where school pupils sheltered in World War II and teenagers partied in 1963.

Previously unseen spaces

This is a relatively new venture for us so we’re looking forward to it just as much as you are. The project is still a work in progress, so if you come along in the early stages you might have the chance to suggest a brilliant idea that we can use to develop these spaces further.

What to expect

The guided tours are roughly 20 minutes long and will run on a first come first served basis subject to demand. You can sign up at reception on the day of your visit. All intrepid explorers will be required to wear a hard hat and carry a small lantern to light your way - there are a few steps down into the cellars, low ceilings and one or two cobwebs. There is no upper or lower age limit, but please keep in mind the nature of the space and decide for yourself whether it's for you or not.

Tours will start again when we re-open in April. Take a look at our events page to find a date that suits you.
