Titian is one of the greatest masters of the Italian Renaissance and his works have always captivated art-lovers of all kinds. He excelled at all the genres, but he is especially known for his intense rendering of religious subjects, his sometimes erotic, sometimes tragic, treatments of classical myth and his striking portraits.
Collecting, conserving and researching these beautiful works by Titian and his followers has been the passion of Alec Cobbe’s lifetime and it is a privilege to assemble them in one room in an historic country house setting.
This exhibition has been curated by Paul Joannides, Emeritus Professor of Art History at the University of Cambridge.
