Many of the best locations for hang gliding and paragliding on the Isle of Wight are on our places.
Where to go?
We welcome controlled and responsible hang gliding and paragliding on our land. There are approved sites on East Afton Down, Compton Down, Chillerton Down, Luccombe Down, Culver Down and St Catherine’s Down.
Responsible hang gliding and paragliding
- The number of approved launching sites is limited by agreement, as well as by topography and terrain.
- Take particular care to avoid disturbance to livestock and birds.
- We work closely with the Isle of Wight Hang gliding and Paragliding club (IWHGPC) - their website provides full site details.
- Please check the IWHGPC guide for any time or direction restrictions designed to minimise disturbance to cliff-nesting birds.
Fancy a go?
You can fly as a passenger on a tandem paraglider on some of these sites by arrangement through IWHGPC. They're always happy to offer guidance and advice.
