Eating & shopping

Homemade, home-grown

Our four catering units within our grounds are there for you whatever you fancy - whether you want locally-reared sausage and chips from the Greedy Pig, a sumptuous afternoon tea at Lady Berwick's or cake and a cuppa at the Carriage House Café or Mansion Tea-room. With many of our ingredients grown here in the Walled Garden, and all our cakes baked fresh on site, it doesn't get much more homemade than this.

Presents, plants and produce

If you love shopping, a visit to any of the three shops within our grounds is a great way to find unusual gifts and reminders of your visit to Attingham. Our second-hand bookshop Groom's Rooms is a bookworm's paradise, and themed products in the Butler's Pantry will make you feel like you've stepped back in time. Why not take home a souvenir of Attingham from our main shop - which also sells freshly-picked produce from our Walled Garden and locally-grown plants.

Hearty snacks

Run off steam in the play field? Refuel at the Greedy Pig

The Greedy Pig is our newest catering unit, situated in the Shoulder of Mutton playfield, next to the Orchard and Walled Garden. It's perfect for families grabbing food on the go and for dog-walkers, offering free-range locally supplied sausage and chips cooked in cold pressed rape seed oil. The Greedy Pig will re-open in the Easter holidays and then be open at weekends and in school holidays (weather permitting).

Turning cakes into conservation

Every slice of cake or postcard bought helps fund vital projects like this

Every penny you spend in our shops and cafés goes straight back into helping us protect and look after Attingham and the estate, so that we can keep it open for everyone to enjoy for years to come. Without your support we couldn't do fantastic restoration work like our Through the Roof Project - or put the park back together after the storms at the start of this year. We reckon that's reason enough to treat yourself to a slice of cake on your next visit.

Celebrate in style

Treat yourself to a delicious Afternoon Tea at Lady Berwick’s

For something a bit special, visit Lady Berwick's for afternoon tea. Soak up the atmosphere in the Outer Library and choose from our tempting set menus offering homemade scones, sandwiches and sweet treats.

Time for a treat?

The Carriage House Café in the Stables Courtyard is a great place to stop and have a cake and a cuppa - our savoury snacks, hot and cold drinks and cakes are all available to take away with you and perfect for picnics or one of our parkland walks. It's open daily at 9am so why not pop in for breakfast and try our bacon baps?

Light lunches

Visit the Mansion tea-room, open 11am daily from 1 March, and relax with a light lunch. Our home-grown ingredients from the Walled Garden can be found in many of our dishes, including soups, homemade pies, vegetarian tartlets and cold desserts.

For families

Little ones will love our lunchboxes, with a choice of sandwiches, fruit juice and a healthy snack, available from the Mansion tea-room or Carriage House café. We're proud to welcome families, so please let us know if we can lend you a highchair or help you any other way.

Join the team

Passionate about food? We're looking for a Food Production Manager to join our team and deliver great food and great service. Applications will be open until 13 April 2014, so if you want to develop your career in a fantastic location, we'd love to hear from you.
