We’re inviting children and young people in East Birmingham* to think like a gardener and create a design for one of four new Blossom Spaces this autumn term, as part of our Blossoming Spaces Competition.

Entrants will produce a design in the style of the Dutch landscaper Piet Oudolf, which features a selection of blossom trees, plants, and nature promoters chosen from our Botanical Fact Cards. They will then need to lay them out in a way they believe will be beneficial to both nature and the local community on the Blossoming Spaces Entry Sheet.

The closing date is 12pm on Friday 5 December and the winning design for each site will be used to create the new Blossom Space during winter 2025/26, alongside a variety of other prizes.

*To be eligible, children and young people must meet both the following requirements:

  1. Fall within either the Primary Age Category or Secondary Age Category, and
  2. Regularly attend an eligible organisation whose purpose includes providing a service for children or young people e.g. school, scouting group, youth centre, located in one of the following East Birmingham wards: Alum Rock, Bordesley Green, Bordesley & Highgate, Bromford & Hodge Hill, Glebe Farm & Tile Cross, Heartlands, Pype Hayes, Shard End, Small Heath, South Yardley, Tyseley & Hay Mills, Ward End, Yardley East, Yardley West & Stechford.
