Notice: On Monday 10 February, the Borrowdale road B5289 was closed, just past the Watendlath road junction. The road has been undermined by lake storms this winter. Cumbria County Council expect the work to take six weeks, and predict the road will re-open on 24 March. Great Wood, Ashness Bridge, Surprise View and Watendlath are still accessible. To get to Kettlewell, Bowder Stone, Rosthwaite or Seatoller there is an official diversion in place via Cockermouth and Honister Pass.
