Fenton House and Garden

This tranquil 17th-century house and garden is a hidden gem in the bustle of London, a place of unique charm and unexpected delights. One of the oldest house in Hampstead, with a multitude of owners and residents over the years, Fenton House has long been an iconic sight at the top of the hill.

One of the treasures of the house is the internationally significant collection of early keyboard instruments. With instruments dating back to 1540, this historic collection is unique; kept in playing condition with weekly tuning and played on our open days by volunteer musicians.

The house is a feast for the eyes as well as the ears, with highly decorative collections of porcelain, Georgian furniture and 17th-century needlework. See if you can spot the 13th-century bowls and vases, or the beautifully sewn 18th-century map of England.  

The delights continue outside in the walled garden, set on multiple levels. The garden includes an orchard with a wide variety of ancient apple and pear trees, a resplendent kitchen garden, a sunken rose garden, and a formal lawn that is perfect for a summer picnic.
