Wonder Women: The Baroque's Forgotten Composers
A concert celebrating the remarkable women of Baroque music.
- Booking essential
A concert celebrating the remarkable women of Baroque music. This programme focuses on instrumental chamber music by composers including Anna Bon, Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, Madame Laschansky, and Isabella Leonarda - women who navigated a male-dominated musical world with extraordinary skill and artistry. Obsidian Baroque are a period music ensemble, performing music of the Baroque era (roughly 1600 to 1750, spanning the construction of Fenton House) on authentic instruments. The performance will weave together live music, exploration of the instruments themselves, and the stories of these remarkable women. The concert will also premiere new works by contemporary female composers for period instruments, connecting these forgotten voices with today's generation of women in music.
