To ensure everyone who stays at Highertown Farm Campsite has a great holiday, we have a few simple site rules.

Arrival Times

After 1pm and before 6pm

If you're arriving at our campsite without booking in advance in low season, we recommend you aim to arrive at the beginning of the times above to secure a pitch, or to phone ahead for information. In high season all bookings must be made in advance.

If you have booked and circumstances beyond your control prevent you from arriving within these times, please contact the campsite on 07917 175382 and staff will do their best to assist.

Departure times

Please leave your pitch by 11am on your day of departure. If you wish to extend your stay, please inform the campsite ranger or call the booking office on 01208 265211 by 2pm the day before.

Parking

There is space for one car by your tent. You may be asked to move additional cars to the parking area after unloading. At busy times and/or when the ground is wet you may be asked to move your car.

Dogs/pets

Dogs are welcome on site (maximum of two per pitch), but please notify us at the time of booking.

Quiet please

We ask that our visitors are considerate to their neighbours at all times, but ‘quiet please’ between 10pm and 7am.

Pitches

We don’t have fixed pitches. Please check the information board on arrival and ensure you are at least a 20 foot gap (6m) between tents.

Groups/ Maximum occupancy

We have a separate camping field for organised groups such as educational groups, D of E, Scouts and Guides. Proof of group status may be required when booking.

Please complete the group booking enquiry form found towards the bottom of the page.

Any party larger than four adults and four children will be considered a group. Family and friend groups are only accepted with prior agreement but our site is not suitable for stag, hen or birthday parties.

Fires/Barbecues

For fire safety and for respect for other campers, campfires are not allowed, but barbecues are permitted, provided they are raised off the ground. Ask the campsite team for stones if necessary.

Safety

Cooking inside tents is NOT permitted and can be lethal due to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Smoking

Smoking is not allowed on the site.

Special requests

Although we cannot guarantee electric hook-ups, we will endeavour to provide one for those who have medical requirements.

Lost property

If you leave any of your possessions behind at the campsite, please contact us as soon as possible.

We reserve the right to charge you for any storage and delivery costs that we incur in relation to your lost property. We charge a lost property charge of £10 to cover our administrative costs and standard Royal Mail delivery up to 2kgs in the UK to return your items to you. If a request to return your items deviates from these conditions, then we reserve the right to charge you any additional costs.

Where possible, we’ll hold lost property for three months after which it’ll be disposed of. Perishables will be disposed of immediately and are therefore unreturnable. In addition, we will only be able to return items permissible by Royal Mail.

Problem or complaint

Every reasonable care will be taken to ensure that the campsite amenities are presented to a high standard. Should you find any cause for complaint, please immediately contact one of the campsite staff, so that reasonable steps can then be taken to rectify the problem. National Trust will not normally make any refunds in respect of complaints made after departure from the campsite if the problem or complaint was not made known to staff during the stay. There are comment cards in the reception area for your suggestions.

If you have an unresolved complaint at the end of your stay, please contact:

National Trust Members

Sadly there are no reductions for members at our sites due to charity commission rules, however please be assured that the money raised through the campsite will be put to good use supporting our conservation work locally.

Small print

In addition to the site rules above we also have some terms and conditions that apply to your booking. You can also read them on the campsite notice board.
