As you discover Ightham Mote, you can find out how we saved this spectacular house with the major conservation project that ran from 1989 to 2006.

Don’t miss our exhibition in visitor reception to see the materials and techniques used, how we retained as much original material as possible and how to spot what is new and what is old.

Continuing care

With 100,000 visitors a year, the house and contents need regular maintenance and conservation work. We monitor light and humidity levels and keep dust and dirt to a minimum.
