Summer of Play at Ightham Mote

Step into a magical Alice in Wonderland themed Summer of Play from 19 July to 31 August. With five themed activity zones, Mad Hatter’s tea parties every weekend, and weekly Alice-themed craft sessions there's plenty of weird and wonderful fun to be had. Explore the natural play area with exciting new play additions, including our four cute sit-on pigs, for even more adventure. Summer of Play is supported by Starling Bank.

The Mad Hatter's Tea Party  

Every Sunday throughout the Summer, bring a picnic and join the Mad Hatter and some of the characters from Lewis Carroll's much loved book.

Alice in Wonderland: Curious Craft Thursdays 

Thursday 24 and 31 July, 7,14, 21 and 28 August 

Step into Wonderland every Thursday this summer for curious crafts, card soldiers, and a little bit of madcap magic.

Thursday 24 July  –  Curious Creatures

Thursday 31 July – Playing Card Soldiers

Thursday 7 August – Mini-Beast Hunt 

Thursday 14 August  – Mask Making

Thursday 21 August – Creatures from Alice's Sea of Tears 

Thursday 28 August  – Caterpillar Craft

We ask for a suggested donation of £2 per craft.

Pastimes Historical Dance

Sunday 27 July

Performances (20 minutes) at 12pm, 1.30pm and 3pm.

Join Pastimes Historical Dancefor a rousing period costumed performance in the Courtyard of medieval-style songs, including some written by King Henry VIII himself! 

Music at The Mote 

Saturday 16 August

Experience a summer evening under the stars in the spectacular surroundings of Ightham Mote with music from much-loved favourite band, The Dial.

The house at Ightham Mote 

Enter this medieval half-timbered house across a cobbled courtyard and into the hushed interior. Discover dark wood panelling, huge fireplaces and a mix of furnishings inside.
