Once the stark medieval fortress of Welsh princes. It was later transformed by family fortune into a richly decorated Baroque castle. Take a walk through the state rooms and discover our fine collection of paintings, sculpture and furniture. You can view our collections online.

Taster tours
We're running one-hour tours of both the castle and garden on Thursdays throughout the season.
You can also join the gardeners for delightful evening walks, followed by seasonal refreshments.

The garden
Powis is one of the few baroque gardens to have survived almost intact since the 1680s. You'll find 26 acres to explore and enjoy. Wander the grand Italianate terraces blasted from the solid rock. Marvel at the dancing statues and lavish herbaceous borders. The scent of flowers fills the air - whatever the season.

The Clive collection
The Clive collection
A tent of painted chintz, a jewelled tiger's head, a feast for the senses. Exotic carvings, gilded swords, embroidered textiles and ornamental silver - see it all at the Clive Museum. Works of art from the sub-continent were transported to Powis when Edward Clive (son of Clive) married into the Herbert family.

We invite you to travel back to 1952 with vintage stalls, performers and a giant screen showing BBC and Wallace & Gromit footage. You can bring your own picnic or order a diamond cream tea complete with champagne. Aardman model-making workshops all make for a Grand Day Out.
Free for National Trust members. £2 for adults - £1 for children.
