Without the dedicated team at volunteers across the country, the National Trust simply wouldn't be able to maintain, protect and open all of the special places we look after.
As a charity, volunteers donate their time and skills to ensure everyone can enjoy their local place. We want to thank the volunteers who support Stowe, all with very different roles from our bakers to gardeners, administrators, photographers, car parkers and much more.
We recently held awards within the National Trust London and South East, where one of Stowe's volunteers was nominated and successfully won the category of Volunteer of the year. Ivy Cakebread has worked at Stowe over 30 years as a dedicated administrator in our office and is always helpful and keen to integrate the community into the work of the property. In 2012 Ivy was also awarded an MBE for her charitable work, but she's far too modest to tell you that.
Drop into one of our open days to find out more about how you can get involved.
If you have a workforce of employees and wish to support a charity, Stowe is a great place to choose.
We have a dedicated programme of activities for groups to participate in, whilst helping our gardening team achieve a projects with mass help. What will take our team of four gardeners months to complete, will in comparison take one day for a group of 20 or more volunteers to achieve.
Corporate volunteering also brings benefits to your company from developing social responsibility within the community, and providing activities that give employee welfare, development and team building opportunities. We do not charge for this, and ask only for you to cover travel expenses and the cost of additional equipment tools via a donation.
We are ideally situated between Oxford, Northampton and Milton Keynes with easy train and motorway connections.
