Sunday 26 May 12-1:30pm Queer Ecology with Annie Higgins

For our first session on Sunday’s main Buzzcut Festival artist blacksmith Annie Higgins joins us to talk about reclaiming and centering our relationship to the environment from a queer perspective as a powerful act of care and resistance.

Annie will lead a gentle-making activity and share how craft allows us to slow down our consumption, consider our material choices and directly impacts the shape of the world around us.

Sunday 26 May 2-2:45pm

Burning My Roti with Sharan Dhaliwal

Sharan Dhaliwal - writer, founder of Burnt Roti magazine and Middlesex Pride - will join us to read from her celebrated book Burning My Roti: Breaking Barriers as a Queer Indian Woman. Part guide and part memoir, through her book Sharan speaks openly about her journey towards loving herself and offers advice, support and comfort to people that are encountering the same issues. After the reading Sharan will be in conversation with Alexia and the audience

Sunday 26 May 3-3:45pm

Speaking Queer with Samiir Saunders

To close out Brum Buzzcut Festival 2024 we are joined by multimedia poet, musician, and performance artist Samiir Saunders. We invite you to hear works from their 2021 alternative hip-hop EP up all night, reading poetry, as well as some newer poems which touch on themes of queer intimacy, queer spirituality, and queer rage.
