Durham City in Blossom 2024: Blossom walk - Crook Hall Gardens to Botanic Garden
A walk through the city to appreciate its riverside location, history and architectural heritage.

Join local historian David Butler for a guided walk through Durham, linking Crook Hall Gardens with Durham University’s Oriental Museum and Botanic Garden. The walk will take you along the River Wear, looking at the historic bridges of the city and learning how the river was made to work for the city’s inhabitants. You’ll also see the university's architectural heritage at its Lower Mountjoy site, as well as the location of a former coal mine.
The walk is one-way, approximately 2 miles/3.2km, and will take about 2 hours. Please note, you will need to allow time to get back to your starting point. There are car parks and refreshments available at both the start and finish venues.
Free - donations welcome. There's no need to book, but places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Maximum stay in our car park is usually 3 hours. If you'd like to stay longer to allow time to walk back from the Botanic Garden or visit our gardens or café before or after the walk, please leave your registration number at the admissions desk.
