Join us for a free guided walk to Penshaw Monument, to appreciate the changes each season brings.

A ramble from Washington Old Hall to Penshaw Monument with walk leader Chris to take in the sights and sounds of the changing seasons. A chance to nourish body and mind, and notice nature - from spring blossom to autumn colour. Expect plenty of time to pause, appreciate the views and take some photos.

It's approximately 5 miles/8km to Penshaw Monument, with the option to visit Penshaw Tearoom, then walk back to Washington Old Hall with Chris (making it 10 miles/16km) or catch the Sunderland District Berries 2A bus to Washington.

Suitable for children aged 12+, must be accompanied by an adult.

Meet outside Washington Old Hall gates.

What to bring and wear

Sturdy walking shoes/boots, waterproofs and warm layers to suit changeable weather advised. Please bring a drink and remember cash or card if visiting the café or returning to Washington by bus.

Accessibility

Some steep inclines and steps, including Penshaw Hill.
