Join our team of dedicated and passionate volunteers based at Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd. We've got a variety of roles available, from sharing your love for the outdoors with the learning and engagement team, to working with the ranger team on conservation work to working in the tea-room, providing a great experience for our visitors.

Roles and opportunities
Volunteering with the National Trust brings many rewards, not least of which is a brilliant team to be part of in Carding Mill Valley. Our volunteer opportunities often change but below are our available roles at the present time.
Experience of any of the roles isn't usually necessary and training is provided. So don't worry about your suitability. We'd love to hear from you and we should be able to find a place for you on our team.
Learning Assistant
The learning team inspire the next generation of enthusiasts. They aren’t afraid to get muddy or let their passion for nature shine through. They have many exciting adventures at Carding Mill Valley including river studies, geology, guided walks and field lab work.

Engagement Assistant
Based at Carding Mill Valley, the engagement volunteers love to talk to our visitors. They love to share their knowledge of the best walks or the history of the valley. If you enjoy sharing your love of the nature, the outdoors and the Long Mynd with others this could be the role for you.

Welcome Volunteer
Our car park in Carding Mill Valley can get very busy! Our Welcome Team give our visitors a warm welcome as they arrive, helping them to park and giving them the information they need to make sure they have a memorable visit.

With thousands of visitors to Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd's 5000 acres every week we need plenty of help to keep it beautiful and great for wildlife.
