Take the weight off your feet and renew your energy before you explore Winkworth Arboretum or reward yourself after an invigorating walk through the woods. The tearoom is a short, level walk away from the car park.

Visiting the tearoom

There is outdoor seating for when the sun's shining or indoor seating for the cooler months. Dogs on leads are welcome in the arboretum and can enjoy the outdoor seating area with their owners.

At weekends and holidays, there is also a coffee Tuk-Tuk and ice cream hut next to the tea-room to serve the outdoor seating area with hot and cold drinks and ice creams.

The tearoom closes 30 minutes before the arboretum, please check opening times for full information.

Here's a taste of the current menu (subject to availability)

  • Hot and cold drinks
  • Sausage rolls, Cornish pasties and vegan pasties
  • Assorted cakes and cookies

Lunches and sweet treats

Choose from hot lunches or lighter meal items including sandwiches and soups. We have a pick and mix children's lunch box for your mini adventures. If you're after a sweet treat, we have a variety of bakes such as Dr Fox's ginger cake, made with a recipe by the arboretum's own founder, a scone of the month and a variety of cakes.

Hot drinks

We take great pride in our hot drinks, serving only Fairtrade coffee made from the best ingredients while you wait. If coffee isn't your cup of tea, try the National Trust Everyday tea blend made especially for us by Clipper.

Allergen information

Most of the food and drink served is prepared on site in our kitchen, using a wide range of ingredients. As a result, we can’t guarantee that any of our food and drink products are completely allergen free.

If you have an allergy or intolerance and would like ingredient information about the food and drink served, please ask the staff, who will be happy to help.

Always check when you visit

Visited before? We sometimes change our recipes to improve quality and flavour, including the ingredients. When you visit, please speak to one of our team to check the current allergen information for your favourite dish.

Remember your reusable cup

Every time you present a reusable cup when you order a hot drink at a National Trust café, tearoom or kiosk, we'll give you 25p off as a thank you for helping the environment by reducing the number of disposable cups used. This promotion replaces the hot drinks loyalty card scheme, which closed in February 2021.

Eating through the seasons

Winkworth changes colour constantly throughout the year, with vivid bluebells giving way to beautiful azaleas and summer greenery, followed by an autumn of burnished reds and oranges. Whatever the season, we've got just the right food for you, whether it's a light salad on a hot day or a warming bowl of soup during winter.

Thank you

Every cuppa or tasty treat you buy helps us to continue looking after places for everyone to enjoy.
