- Follow brown signs to ‘Roman Villa’ from A429. From M5, Midlands or Oxfordshire follow A40 to Northleach roundabout (intersection of A40 and A429), then go south on the A429, turning right off the A429 just past Northleach to follow signs to ‘Roman Villa’. From M4, Swindon or South West, head to Cirencester, then go north on the A429, turning left at Fossebridge to follow signs to ‘Roman Villa’. NB: Make sure to follow signs to ‘Roman Villa’, not to ‘Chedworth’. There are currently no signs from other approaches (e.g. A417 or A40/ A436 via Withington). Therefore unless you have a sat nav or a detailed map of the area, it is strongly advisable to approach by the A429 following the brown signs.Parking: Parking for 35 cars within 20m of the visitor centre, and an additional 10-15 cars in the lay-by on the lane 50m from the visitor centre. Additional parking in the woodland car park (c. 250m from the visitor centre) from March to October. - On the Monarch’s Way. There are lots of circular walks and footpaths leading to Chedworth Roman Villa. See Ordinance survey Cotswolds Explorer Map OL45.
- By train
- Cheltenham Spa Station 11.6 miles (18.7km), Kemble Station 15.5 miles (25km), and Moreton-in-Marsh Station 17.5 miles (28km). There is no public transport from these stations to Chedworth Roman Villa, so if coming by train it is advisable to pre-book a taxi from the station.
- By bus
- Public transport to the Villa is very limited. The Cotswold AONB Explore the Cotswolds website.
- Cycling
- National Route 48 of the National Cycle Network passes through Northleach, 4.8 miles (7.7km) from Chedworth Roman Villa. There is space to park several bikes near the Café and Visitor Reception.

Highlights
Roman villa
With intricate in-situ mosaics, bath-house complexes, hypocaust heating systems and a water shrine, explore the remains of one of Roman Britain's largest and grandest discovered villas. Hidden from view for more than 1,500 years, it was uncovered in 1864 by a Victorian archaeologist.
Museum
Housed in the Victorian lodge at the centre of the site, the museum displays some of the objects discovered at the villa - from tools and household goods to bracelets, rings and hair pins.
Eating
Enjoy a selection of hot and cold drinks, cakes, ice cream, snacks and light lunches in our light and airy café.
Shopping

Mosaic Madness Easter Trail
28th March-12th April: Join us at Chedworth for some Easter mosaic madness and a great family day out. Pop on your bunny ears and hop off around the site to discover 10 mosaic‑inspired family games and activities. Try your hand at creating colourful magnetic mosaic patterns, explore real Roman designs around the villa, and meet the master mosaicist who'll bring this ancient art to life. Easter trails are £3.50 each and includes a trail sheet, bunny ears, and a dairy or vegan and Free From* chocolate egg. (*Suitable for people with milk, egg, gluten, peanut and tree nut allergies.)

About Chedworth Roman Villa
Chedworth Roman Villa was rediscovered by the Victorians over 150 years ago. Leading the way in archaeology and conservation, Chedworth provides a unique insight into life during the Roman period in Britain.
A modern conservation building provides exceptional access to the extensive mosaic floors, hypocaust systems and bath house rooms. And a small museum houses a range of finds and artefacts from the villa.
As well as all this, the tranquil setting, idyllic views and rich wildlife haven gives plenty of opportunities for walks, relaxation and reflection.
Maybe treat yourself to something delicious in our small café, serving sandwiches, cakes, snacks, hot and cold drinks and ice-cream. Or you can visit our shop which offers Roman-themed souvenirs, books and games, as well as seasonal plants and gifts.
Please note that no dogs are allowed on site except for assistance dogs.
Drive carefully as the route to the Villa is mainly single track.
