Hydro Turbine Open Day
The hydro turbine building on the River Teign will be open for you to look inside. The knowledgeable guide will be able to tell you about the history of this building along with how it was restored and how it works.

This is a free drop in event. Come and learn about how hydro power has been used at Castle Drogo from 1929 to the present day. Guides will be opening the Hydro for visitors to come and look inside.
To get to the Hydro from the Castle Drogo car park please follow the Hunters path down to the Iron Bridge, cross over onto the Foresters track and follow the path towards Fingle Bridge. Alternatively, you can access the Hydro from Fingle Bridge by following the riverside path for around 40 minutes.

The Hydro Turbine Building is located by the Salmon leaps along the river Teign.
- What to bring and wear
Please wear suitable clothing. The Dartmoor weather is changeable, and the location requires some walking on rough uneven paths.
- Accessibility
The location is around a 40-minute walk down from the castle car park. The route is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs. If parking at Fingle Bridge, walkers can access the Hydro by following the Fisherman’s path.
- Other
There is no charge to access the estate (where the Hydro is located). Car parking charges apply at the Castle Drogo car park and to access the castle and grounds. The event will be cancelled in the event of high winds. Please check the website before travelling.
