Brother Aidan returns to the Ripon Theatre Festival, bringing heritage crafts, history and storytelling to his new home at Fountains Abbey. Witness the process of creating an Anglo Saxon book whilst he weaves talks of his life as a monk. See a huge range of replica artefacts. Watch demonstrations of parchment and ink making, leatherwork, bookbinding and calligraphy. An interactive event for adults. Presented by Andrew Bates from Hazelsong Theatre.

Swanley Grange Workshop is a 5-10 minute walk from the Visitor Centre.
- What to bring and wear
We are an outdoor site so please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy shoes as the ground is uneven in places.
- Accessibility
Swanley Grange workshop is accessed on level ground from the Visitor Centre. There is a steep hill (15-20% gradient) from West Gate (15 minutes) and Studley (30 minutes) to access Swanley.
