Enjoy our 'pop-up' café

Lovely cakes and snacks to enjoy

Lovely cakes and snacks to enjoy

We call it ‘pop-up’ café style, and it’s run by our lovely friends from the nearby Tower Bank Arms. They bring the snacks and cakes to us ready-made and we use paper cups to avoid all that dishwashing. Here’s why…

Before we opened to the public last year, Wray Castle had been unused since 2004 when our last commercial tenants left. So, although the old main kitchen is still there, it can't comply with current regulations. The cost of restoring full catering would be large and with the castle's very long list of what needs fixing and upgrading, we're doing other things first.

We think it's a great café, come and enjoy it and the great view.

Green travel discounts

It pays to go green

There are lots of 'green' ways to visit the castle and we'd like to reward you for leaving the car at home. When you travel here by boat you could get 10% off your admission price plus 10% discount in the shop.

Watch this space for the downloadable voucher; we'll have the link here as soon as we can. But in the meantime keep hold of your boat ticket and ask one of our team about the offer on arrival.

Great picnic spots too

A great place for a picnic at Wray Castle

A great place for a picnic at Wray Castle

You can picnic anywhere, and with picnic benches outside the castle and in the grounds you’ll be able to have a comfy brew with a view. And the advantage of paper cups is you can take them outside.

Our castle shop stocks a variety of lovely gifts and treats, some very useful for Wray Castle, like picnic rugs, kids’ dressing up costumes and swords (very popular).

Buying something from our shop allows us to invest back into the castle and the surrounding countryside.

Open in line with castle's opening times and days.
