Poetry Writing Workshop at Bateman’s with Helen Stockton
Enjoy a day of creative poetry writing at the inspirational home of Rudyard Kipling.
- Booking essential
Join local writer Helen Stockton for a day of poetry writing, in the heart of the Sussex countryside, using the surroundings to prompt your own poems. Examine what poetry is, try some different forms including free and blank verse, and use Kipling’s poem, The Glory of the Garden, to examine rhyme, rhythm and poetic use of language.
This five-hour workshop for adults is held in the garden at Bateman's, the peaceful family home of Rudyard Kipling. It includes entry to Bateman’s house and garden, an introduction to the garden from Garden and Outdoors Manager Len Bernamont, and a light lunch from the Mulberry Tea-room, which you can choose on the day.
Helen Stockton is an experienced author, published poet, and a qualified teacher, who brings her enthusiasm for poetry and beautiful gardens to this workshop.
