This winter, book a stay near a spectacular light show or twinkling trail at one of the houses or gardens in our care. There's plenty to experience from mid November to early January.

Book a stay in a National Trust apartment or cottage in Durham, York or near Manchester, to enjoy all the city has to offer.


Every year, Cotehele creates a huge Christmas garland for the Great Hall from estate flowers. See the gardeners create the garland before its in place from 22 November. There are eight holiday cottages to choose from at Cotehele.

From late November to early January, follow a Christmas garden trail and see the house decorated with fairy-tale scenes. There are two places to stay here - Woodlands Cottage and Chodds Farmhouse.

There are all kinds of places to stay at Fountains Abbey, including Abbey Cottage which sleeps six.

From the end of November, explore rooms decorated with enchanting scenes inspired by the beloved wintery world of Narnia. You can stay in The Bothy, a historic cottage in the castle gardens.
National Trust gift cards can be used for National Trust holidays in cottages, bunkhouses, bothies and campsites when booked by phone. Treat someone special to a relaxing break or outdoors adventure this Christmas, while helping to look after nature, beauty and history.

Some holidays offer quiet and connection, beneath the trees or on the moors in a remote spot. Others are close to boat trips for exciting wildlife-spotting opportunities. Many have trails and habitats to explore.

We have campsites and cottages with some of the nation's most star-spangled views.

The Pembrokeshire coast and countryside, with its low levels of light pollution, is home to brilliant, accessible Dark Sky sites offering far-reaching views. This new cottages is in an area recognised by Dark Sky Discovery as great spots for enjoying clear views of the night sky.

Exmoor National Park is a Dark Sky Reserve, and you can stay beneath its special skies when you camp at Cloud Farm. This laid-back, riverside campsite welcomes tents and campervans, and has pods. There are also two National Trust cottages at Cloud Farm - Carver Cottage and Cloud Farmhouse.

Here by Hadrian's Wall, the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park is the largest in the UK. The pristine night skies mean you might see the Andromedia Galaxy (2.5 million light years away) with the naked eye.

The Isle of Wight has plenty of top spots for stargazing, and St Catherine's Down, with the remains of a 14th-century oratory, is a lovely place to take in the night sky.
