We're honoured to have had 5 objects from Waddesdon's collection, including our spectacular elephant automaton, chosen to feature in the new book, 125 Treasures from the Collections of the National Trust.

There’s a new herd in the grounds! Meet three life-size elephant sculptures brought to Waddesdon in support of Coexistence campaign.

Waddesdon has one of the most important Victorian gardens that include an iconic Parterre, 3D bedding sculpture and a Rococo-style aviary housing rare birds. Enjoy a walk around the gardens in all seasons, our formal gardens open up to rolling parkland with hidden glades, magnificent woodland and picturesque views.

Discover Waddesdon Manor's dramatic architecture, and see inside exquisite interiors as if a guest of Baron Ferdinand. The Bachelors' Wing and A Rothschild Treasury cannot yet be opened due to Covid safety measures.

Waddesdon was purchased in 1874. Since this time members of the Rothschild family have taken it in turns to enhance and nurture the aesthetics and conservational value of the estate.

Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild wanted an estate where he could escape London in the summer months and entertain family and friends for weekend house parties. The foundation stone was laid in 1877.

Four members of the Rothschild family have been responsible for the creation, care and development of Waddesdon.

James de Rothschild bequeathed Waddesdon to the National Trust in 1957, which has been open to the public since 1959. Rothschild Foundation is a UK registered charity.
