About Chesil Cottage

Big sea views are the focus of this rustic old cottage near Chesil beach. Surrounded by coast and countryside with the South West Coast Path on the doorstep, the cottage is a wonderful spot for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts to soak up the sea air.

A traditional stone cottage with two bedrooms upstairs (the master on the first floor and the second in the converted attic above) this cosy coastal getaway is ideal for couples.

On sunny days the lawned garden with outside seating area is great for alfresco lunches and dinners gazing over the Chesil coastline. On cooler days you can enjoy the views from inside instead, or relax in front of the pretty inglenook fireplace in the living room.

Broadchurch fans should recognise this section of the Jurassic coast (also an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), which is irresistible with its stories of smuggling and shipwrecks. The 18 miles of dog-friendly pebble-filled Chesil beach is great for strolling, and stopping at cafes to enjoy a bite to eat. Or explore the unique Fleet tidal lagoon, the largest in Britain, and home to Abbotsbury Swannery. Bridport, Dorchester and Weymouth are also close.

As Dorset is Hardy country, literature lovers will find Hardy connections everywhere. Explore his house, Max Gate, or picturebook-perfect Hardy’s Cottage where he grew up, both looked after by the National Trust. When you stay with us, the funds from your holiday go towards looking after places like these. For those keen for a little more adventure, how about a day on the waves with a boat trip along the Jurassic Coast from West Bay, or a closer look at the underwater world at Weymouth’s Sea Life Adventure Park?
