Blickling's main fishing season runs from 16 June - 15 March each year. Visitors of all ages and abilities come here to fish in the lake, where you’ll find an abundance of bream, pike and carp. Read this helpful information to make the most of your fishing trip with us.

The way to pay for car parking and fishing permits is changing

From early summer 2025, the car park payment machine in the Fisherman's car park will be removed and visitors and members can use the JustPark app to pay for parking or to log their member visit. Fishing permits can also be purchased via the JustPark app using the location ID code on the sign in the Fisherman’s car park (998923). Please download the app on the App Store or Google Play ahead of your visit. As mobile reception is poor in this area, you might want to purchase your day and season tickets and parking before your visit, which you can do up to 24 hours in advance. You can also purchase day and season tickets and parking from Visitor Reception in the main car park, currently open 10am – 5pm.

Helpful tips

The car parks open at 7am and the lake will be open until dusk or 9.30pm – whichever is earlier. Night fishing is prohibited – for your own safety, please leave the lake by dusk.

Please:

  • Have your Environment Agency rod licence with you
  • Purchase your day ticket from the machine (coins only), and keep this with you
  • Use landing nets for all fish
  • Only use barbless hooks or micro barbs
  • Use fish-safe rigs
  • Fish from the dam or one of the fishing platforms. These can be found on the east bank of the lake and one on the west bank, close to the dam end
  • Only fish from one swim
  • Respect other park users by keeping the paths clear and taking any litter or unused bait home with you

Please don’t:

  • Use bait boats
  • Pre bait
  • Live bait
  • Use excessive amounts of loose feed
  • Use keep nets or sacks
  •  Wade into the lake
  • Leave your rods unattended
  • Block the footpaths
  • Use more than two rods
