National Trust tenanted farmer Alastair and partner Donna provide a back to nature glamping experience, tucked away in woodland on their working farm within Gibside Estate. Choose from one of the 6 spacious traditional Mongolian Yurts or get cosy in the Shepherd’s Hut.The yurts sleep 6 or 4 guests and come fully equipped with log burner, crockery, cooking facilities, decking and fire pit – just bring yourself, some provisions and your own bedding. The shower and toilet blocks are located at the centre of the site, along with washing up facilities, recycling, play area and covered picnic area.
The shepherd’s hut is found at the top of the farm steading in its own private walled garden. It’s designed for 2 adults but can accommodate a travel cot, there’s a kitchenette, log burner and comes complete with sumptuous double bed and bedding already provided.
Admire the views across the Derwent Valley to the Cheviot Hills and take in the sights of the rare breed Beef Shorthorn cattle and 300 breeding ewes. Guest’s benefit from entry to Gibside Estate included in their booking price, and after hours access. There are over 15 miles of footpaths, a play area, low ropes challenge and an onsite baker and café.
With plenty of exploring and den building opportunities to keep the kids entertained whilst you sit back and enjoy the scenery, this peaceful retreat is the perfect place to escape modern day life.

The Yurts are open from the end of March to November.
