About Fell farm experience
Find out what life is like on a working farm during lambing season.Join in working on a Wasdale Head fell farm at the most exciting time of the year – lambing season. This is a basic, general introduction to life on a fell farm where you’re sure to gain plenty of new skills. Your work will cover most aspects of a working farm; you could be doing anything from working with the sheep and lambs, to carrying out traditional Lakeland tasks such as dry-stone walling. Where possible, there will be opportunities to learn about and help out with lambing the Herdwick ewes.
About the accommodation
The accommodation is spread over two floors consisting of a lounge/dining area with a log burner, a small kitchen and two areas consisting of five rooms. Outside you are 70 yards from the shore of Wastwater and there is plenty of outdoor and informal garden space. There is access to our boathouse and rowing boat less than a mile away.
